Mauerpark!!!

So many people! it's just like the Taiwan night market, but during the day! They also had this huge field where people sat, hung out, barbequed and listened to people sing karaoke.

Flea market: buy anything you can imagine!

swingsets for adults!

huge karaoke crowd!

the singer was pretty cool, played guitar
too

Can anyone who has heard this music really be a bad person?

From the movie, The Lives of Others,

"Can someone who has heard this music, I mean truly heard it, really be a bad person?"

Kaki King's song "Can anyone who has heard this music really be a bad person?"

I wonder if the song's inspired by the movie?

Site Visit & Prinzessinnengarten

So I visited the area where my project is going to be located. It's near Moritzplatz station, so I was able to explore the area a bit.   There was this store called Modular, which is this GIANT art store. I will DEFINITELY return when I have more money.

We also saw this community garden called Princess Garden, where a bunch of people hung out, ate food and drank coffee. All of the benches and buildings were made out of recycled goods. Brilliant! I loved the idea and was sad that I can't use it for my project!

Feasting

Second day of class kind of! We had the morning off so we ate. lots :D

The food was beautifully arranged. I ordered french toast and it came with yogurts, maple syrup and fruits on the side.

In the middle you will see an Apfel Strudel, and in the distance, you will see my friend's very German dish. Forgot what it was called though!

Currywurst is not the worst

One thing that you need to have in Germany is currywurst! it's basically sausage with ketchup-y type stuff and curry powder.

looks kind of bloody

a strawberry tiramisu-y dessert

Potsdam

We went to Potsdam for a day trip. It's basically this really huuuuge place with lots and lots and lots of palaces. There's a lot of history involved in trying to understand the place, so read about it on your own if you want! I ain't gonna take my time to explain it.

Studios!

Today we had an intro to class! Yay studios!

The studios had 10 wooden tables with maylines and a couple conference rooms in a painted white brick rooms. big windows face the courtyard. gonna be spending lots of time there, so will wait for pictures.

We watched Lives of Others in the afternoon and no one could really speak after it cause it really pulls you in. It's about Germany and secrets and spying!

Also went to a place called Kreuzburger- yummy. I liked that the patty wasn't half the burger like it is in American burger places sometimes. They also get creative with different types of veggie burgers which I am excited to try.
